Neehar Karnik has been working with Maya since version one. Neehar has worked as an Alias and Autodesk Support Engineer on Maya and has experience working as a technical director at Rainmaker and CIS Vancouver.

In the first part of the series, Ron created the low poly model from reference and then moved on to create the high poly source for the purpose of texture baking. Now, in the second part, Ron will proceed to unwrap the model, lay out the uvs, and then bake out high poly normal and occlusion maps using Mayas transfer maps tool.

Underwater Environments_FULL- DVD

In this DVD, John presents the process of creating an underwater effects shot, thoroughly explaining each step of the process from inception to completion. Starting with an ocean bottom and a camera move, John shows how to create underwater atmospheric conditions such as floating particulate matter, photo-real bubbles, water fog and caustic light rippling down through a wavy sea surface. John then uses Maya's Dynamics system to build additional elements into the shot, demonstrating their use within the shot environment.


He shows how to use springs and goals to create an anchor and dynamic rope dropping to the sea floor, as well as how to use particle instancing with goals to create dynamic schools of fish. John then walks you through the final steps to create flowing sea grass and billowing sand when the sea bottom is disturbed. By the end of this DVD you will not only have a completed shot ready for fine-tuning and compositing, you will also have the ability to create your own fantastic underwater shots.

John uses Maya's Dynamics system to build elements in the shots, demonstrating their use within the shot environment.

Over the past many years, Maya has become the leading 3D application used in the film, broadcast and game industries. Hailed for its diverse toolset, Maya excels due to its integration, flexibility and performance in regards to modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, animation, rigging and effects. Designed for the individual new to Maya, this DVD contains over five hours of lecture. The essential UI (user interface) is discussed, focusing on the work- flow of an experienced user. This 2-disc set takes an in-depth look at the design and creation of a detailed character head using Pixologic’s ground breaking software ZBrush. In over eight hours of lecture, Alex Alvarez sculpts a head from scratch using Zspheres and ZBrush’s arsenal of sculpting and detailing tools. Beginning with primitive shapes derived from Zspheres, the primary forms of the head are quickly blocked out to determine general proportion and design. Alex then refines the eyes, ears, nose, mouth and horn regions before moving into Projection Master to create surface details. Once the geometry is complete, the use of ZBrush as a texturing tool is demonstrated in the creation of high-resolution bump, color and specular maps. The creation of custom tileable Alpha libraries with ZBrush and Photoshop is also demonstrated. In conclusion, Alex shows how to integrate geometry, displacements and textures using Maya's native renderer and Mental Ray. Every step of the process is shown using real-time and timelapse video.
