After the model of your ship is complete, the texturing section shows you how to lay out UV's using different UV projections, as well as learn to move and sew your UV's, to get a clean flat map to paint your textures on. You can then take a UV snapshot which will be imported into PhotoShop where you will explore different techniques using layers, brushes and filters to hand paint your ships' textures.
